I’ve loved watching ballet since I was a little girl and I played Cinderella in our preschool play when I was a kid (believe it or not lol) so this is a double special treat for me from my family! ๐๐ ๐
We enjoyed watching Ballet Manila’s unique interpretation of the classic Cinderella fairy tale, which includes new scenes and new twists to old scenes that you can only find in this local show created by Ms. Lisa Majuca-Elizalde and her dance company. ๐โ๏ธ๐
We were also fascinated by the beautiful ballet performance by talented Filipino ballet dancers. ๐๐ ๐บ The graceful Cinderella and her Prince Charming (na talagang pogi at charming haha. Napa-#Fangirl mode tuloy kami ๐) successfully brought to life the fairy tale characters with their dance performances. ๐ธ๐ ๐คด But our attention was caught by the equally talented supporting characters!
The imperious but charming stepmom and the adorably silly stepsisters of Cinderella injected the show with liveliness and humor through their playful, funny acting (kaya favorite ko silang mga madam lol). ๐ธ๐ธ๐๐ธ We also want to salute the rest of the supporting cast whose skill and physical endurance amazed us, after we saw how they breezed through multiple role changes and costume swaps all throughout the show. ๐ช Multitasking dance edition, FTW! Finally, in terms of dancing, I was impressed the most by the ballet dancer who played the raccoon. ๐ฟ๏ธ He had various roles but his opening dance as a raccoon was the most memorable one for me (hmm, or baka squirrel siya?! Basta siya yung unang forest creature). While all the dancers were good, the raccoon was exceptionally gifted. He leaps so highly and effortlessly and lands so softly while dancing that it almost seems as if he were flying at times. ๐ฆ Congratulations to everyone! ๐๐๐๐๐
I tried dancing (emphasis on “tried” ๐คฃ) a little outside the theater after the show… pero as usual, happy, awkward dance lang talaga ang kaya ko wahaha. ๐น๐๐ ๐ต๐ Oh well, it’s still fun to dance even if I suck at it lol.
Buti na lang at sanay na ang pamilya ko sa mga kabaliwan ko! ๐คฃ๐๐
We got hungry after the show so we also enjoyed our dinner at Hap Chan Tea House in Harbour Square. ๐๐๐ฝ๏ธ๐๐ฅ
And it was refreshing to check out the newly cleaned Manila Bay! ๐๏ธ๐๐
Finally, to wrap up the evening, my mom and I had fun with our ice cream girl bonding and grocery tour with Tita Cecile at Fisher Mall. ๐จ๐๐ฆ
We missed Princess Tori during our Cinderella adventure but we hope our future ballerina can join us watch ballet shows someday when she is a little bigger. ๐๐ธ๐

*As much as I wish I could take photos of the actual ballet show so I could share them with you all, picture-taking and video recording of the live ballet performance was not allowed in the theater so I only took photos of the cast during the curtain call after the show was over. ๐ท

Thanks to all my amazing & loving fairy godfathers & godmothers โ my lolas & lolos, my Mama Uni, my Papa Boy, my titos & titas & the rest of the family in the Philippines, US & Australia โ for the unexpected birthday surprises & greetings! ๐คด๐๐ธ I was originally planning to celebrate simply & quietly as usual, but you all made my birthday extra special this year with your unexpected birthday treats, gifts & dates, and more importantly, with your love, your genuine concern for my health & well-being, and your presence. ๐ And through our fun conversations, foodie bonding & crazy moments. ๐ฅค๐ฝ๏ธ๐น You made a big difference, not just because you cheered me up on my birthday, but also because you lifted up my spirits just when I needed it. Nakakagaan at nakakataba ng puso ang encouragement niyo during this challenging time when I have health concerns & when itโs easy to be discouraged sometimes in spite of my efforts to stay positive. To be honest, I didnโt really expect many people to greet me kasi I havenโt been that visible or active socially in real life and online for over a year. Plus, I myself havenโt been that good at birthday greetings & remembering special occasions lately lol. ๐ So I appreciate na you didnโt take it to heart. And of course, thank you to Jesus for another year & for my life & the lives of the people (& the cats!) around me. ๐ The Lord is teaching me to value each new year & each new day now more than ever.
