I unexpectedly enjoyed a beautiful sunset, an agriculture expo & a baywalk dinner self-date… dahil SHUNGA ako 😂🌅🌱🍽🍗🍦🍓🌜🌟🎡🎂❤ I went to SMX for the book fair… tapos farmers expo pala ang nandun kasi nasa WTC pala ang book fair. Galing ko talaga! 😜 Umikot na ako sa Farmers International Summit Philippines since I was already there. It’s heartening to see that there are still people who value agriculture, since it’s our main food source, even if many take it for granted (I want to write a story inspired by futuristic farming someday!). Then I went to the bayside and witnessed one of the most splendid sunsets I have ever seen. And God unexpectedly spoke to me through the real-life painting that is the sky.
As the stars began to appear, I decided to have a quick, simple dinner before going to the book fair (which was open 24 hours so it was okay for me to go later in the evening). But my dinner by the baywalk became an unexpectedly memorable one because of the affordable but delicious fried chicken and the terrific service of the friendly staff of Giligan’s at MOA By the Bay.
As I savored the strawberry sundae from Icebergs that I couldn’t resist buying, I gazed contentedly at the moon and the stars and the giant ferris wheel and the countless people passing by like a human kaleidoscope. I laughed, thinking how true it was that God really knows what we need better than we do! I was only planning to go to the book fair, but the Lord knew I needed a special self-date, so He allowed me to make a silly mistake so I would end up with special quality time with myself. “My birthday theme for 2018 is #MyFavoriteThings. It may not be obvious, but I have struggled with birthday blues ever since I was a kid. When I was a child and a teenager, I allowed myself to be swept away by the annual birthday blues, while my mom, my relatives and friends all valiantly and patiently tried to cheer me up each time my birthday comes around (and forced me to celebrate with them lol!). As I grew up into an adult and as I grew closer to God, I myself did my part to battle the birthday blues by trying to cheer up other people on my birthday and also by doing the things I like. Yet even if it may not be obvious, it’s still a struggle almost every year, although being more proactive has helped a lot. Some of my personal cheerleaders are still by my side, while some are now far away or are busy or have their own lives and challenges. I am thankful for all of them and how they helped me when I couldn’t help myself. I know they will all be proud of me that I am now trying to help myself too, while acknowledging that I can’t do it totally by myself at the same time. This year, as I try with the Lord’s help to heal and recover from physical and mental challenges alike, I deliberately simplified my birthday in line with my #Live4Infinity #LifeProject. I also intentionally chose to spend time with my favorite hoomans and cats, to do my favorite activities, and to surround myself with my favorite things. I am also trying to relax and chill more. I want to celebrate and appreciate the things that make life beautiful and interesting, not just on my birthday, but in the days to come.
