The Book Launch of Chikiting Books by Vibal Group last September 14, 2018 was chock-full of cool things that chikitings love, such as storytellers, puppets, games, mascots, dancing, and of course, 10 new Chikiting Books! 📚✏️😻 📖❤️💃🎵🕺🎪🖋️ Kiddie readers were excited to check out the 10 children’s books that were launched during the 39th Manila International Book Fair at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia (MOA), 2nd Floor, Stage Area. While I already shared about my book “The Amazing Family Circus” in previous blog posts, here is now the complete list of the freshly released Chikiting Books by my fellow children’s book authors and illustrators and me, in order of their introduction during the program:

Our bubbly host, Ms. Jaydee Ybasco, enthusiastically presented all the new Chikiting Books on stage. She interviewed us authors and illustrators about our inspiration behind the creation of our books. She also encouraged us to share our messages for our kiddie readers. (Actually, we were all surprised when we suddenly found out that there was going to be a question-and-answer portion lol. But in spite of our nervousness, we did our best to answer the questions and to enjoy the experience. High five, guys!).
In order to bring one of the Chikiting Books to life, there was a fascinating chamber theatre performance by the National Library of the Philippines, based on “Lala and the Enchanted Cloak”, a book written by Meanne Mabesa Mijares and illustrated by Jeca Martinez.
And the fun didn’t stop there! There was a lively trivia game, where the kids had a chance to win their own copies of Chikiting Books.
There was also an entertaining puppet show, which encouraged children to spend less time playing with their gadgets and to spend more time playing with their friends in the real world.
Energy levels grew even higher as the cute mascots, Melai and Onyot, danced to the K-pop hit “Bboom Bboom” by Momoland. And the energetic children rushed up the stage to dance with the mascots! (To be honest, I really wanted to dance with them too! Pero medyo nahiya ako kasi naisip ko medyo kagalang-galang dapat ako pag work event lol. Plus, none of my fellow writers and artists wanted to join the mascots with me!?! Oh well, maybe next time! Hahaha).
Finally, we took a group photo with everyone so that we could have a remembrance of our special day together. All the kiddie readers, authors and illustrators, and of course, the mascots gave their best smiles for our group picture!

Thanks a lot to the students, teachers and staff of Sto. Niño Catholic School and Camella Homes Montessori for their special effort to join our book launch.
